I see little difference between a password-protected cache and one which has the coordinates encrypted using a rather difficult encryption algorithm. This is very, very different from putting a password on a cache listing. The idea of that challenge isn't to have a "mockup listing" or "fin a given amount of caches" - it's an N-part multi/puzzle cache which requires that you complete a very specific requirement (find at least one cache in each of the areas covered by individual pages in a published atlas) before the final cache location will be given to you. Make a mockup listing stating that if you are a nice guy I will give you the real coordinates? The password could also be given to specific people who I would like to allow access the Page.Īs I understand there is a few Delorme caches out there that requires finding a given amount of caches and then you would be given the final coordinates. If there were an option to have a listing that could be viewed by those with a Password, then it(the password) could be inside the Cache for the finders to then use to log their find. The problem with that would be that they could not view the page to log a find(since it will not be published). One thing different about mine would be that there would actually be a real cache hidden, and it could be found by those who figured out the location. I've been considering hiding a Cache that would remain unpublished, as a virtual receptical for my Coin Collection. I'm not sure if this is really a feature request, but I'd be interested to see what others think of the idea. Another interesting twist might be to have an option where the Cache page can only be viewed by those people who have a password to access it. There are currently two kinds of Cache Pages, Regular and PMO. This is just an idea that popped into my head as I lay awake last night. ![]()
